One Note Above, the Tomah Senior High School Women's Show Choir was started by THS Choir director Dale Stafslien in the Fall of 1995. In October of 1997, Ilene Quartemont became the director of this growing group of then 21 girls. Over the years, One Note has evolved and begun to enter competitions and expand their performance opportunities. In January, 1999 One Note first competed in the Onalaska Show Choir Classic and returned to compete in 2000 and 2001. In four of the six years it has been in existence, One Note Above received a first place rating at Wisconsin State Solo Ensemble Competition. In February of 2001, in their first appearance at Western Dubuque Show Choir Invitational in Iowa, the group was named first runner up in the Unisex division of the competition. This year, now 42 members strong, One Note Above plans to once again expand their competitive opportunities. They hope to return to the Western Dubuque Show choir Invitational, as well as attend competitions in Crawfordsville, Indiana and Manteno, Illinois. In addition to competitions, One Note joins THS mixed show choir, The Limited Edition, in performing at the Warrens Cranberry Festival each September and co-hosts a spaghetti dinner each March, a concert in May and, this year, looks forward to representing Tomah the first annual Spring Singsational Show Choir Competition at Tomah High School! | |
